Japan Fest, 9th August, Sheffield

From the banks of the Öresund, Freya grew up living in the cities of Malmö and København where she studied hard to become a sky fairing pilot. She may not be the sharpest tool in the box, but Freya is a skilled aviator and navigator, flying her own plane which is affectionately named “Little Feather”.

 

Freya may be Swedish, but she is not from our version of Sweden. Freya is in fact from a parallel world where things are a little different. Type of world where even someone as silly as Freya could become a pilot and where Surströmming actually smells pretty good! Unfortunately she had become separated from her home worlds whilst piloting Little Feather one night.

 

It was the night of Midsummer over the Baltic Sea, somewhere between Sweden and Finland. Soaring above the clouds, the moon was out with not even a hint of turbulence. Freya was flying all alone, ferrying her small jet, enjoying the calm peaceful night, listening to warm sounds of Air Traffic Control chatter.

 

But it was close to midnight when things suddenly changed. Her calm flight ending abruptly when the lights on board began to flicker. Freya’s compass going erratic and the engines choking on fumes, as if something was terribly wrong, perhaps an unforeseen thunderstorm? She followed what she could make of her navigation instruments, but they ultimately led her astray.

 

Unbeknownst to Freya, she had just encountered a portal that crossed the void between realities that linked her world with ours.

 

Just when she thought she was done for, things seemingly returned to normal as Little Feather exited through the other side, and as quickly as the crisis came, it went. However confusion set in quickly as Freya noticed she was clearly in a different part of the world. The sea suddenly swapped for land, and it was now daylight outside. Unsure of where she is or what exactly had just happened, she decides to land. Though that wouldn’t be as easy as it sounds.

 

She discovers her plane’s battery and fuel had been largely spent crossing the portal, and Little Feather cannot stay aloft, falling out of the sky with Freya tumbling to earth.

 

Separated from her plane, it just so happens that Freya’s fall happened to coincide with her crashing through the roof of Meian Manor, where she lands face first into a hard wooden floor.

 

Dusting herself off, Freya now finds herself in the company of several nautically dressed maids, all of whom are bewildered by Freya’s sudden arrival. She announces…

 

“Hej!! Jag heter Freya! ヾ(＾∇＾)” – She probably thought she was still in Sweden or something…

 

“Ursäkta mig, men var är jag? Sverige? Suomi?” – She continues in confused Swedish (She was not in fact in Sweden and no one could understand a word of what she was saying, but thankfully Freya also speaks English)

 

“I am so sorry about what I did to your roof (╥﹏╥)” – Freya quietly apologized to her new maid friends. “I was flying when I fell out of my plane and ended up here…Please forgive me!!”

 

As it turned out though, it just so happened that Meian Manor needed a new Light Side Maid and here Freya fell out of the sky. Just like that she found a new home at Meian Manor. One of the maids shows her to her new room and hands Freya a Pink uniform and all of the things she needs to become the best maid she can be!
